London Craft Week is in Full Swing for 2022.
From the 9th - 15th of May, London Craft Week will be bringing together over 250 established and emerging craftspeople, designers and brands to showcase the best of British craft.
The week of events takes place in studios, galleries and stores across London, and ranges from bag making, knitting, stitching, fungariums and shoe making workshops to botanical cloth-dyeing, innovative exhibitions and talks from the UK’s leading craftspeople and brands.
We're really excited to see a range of leather working events this year! Gain an understanding of traditional leather craft or get important information about where the industry is heading in the modern age.

1. LOEWE meets master of Ikebana: Sofu Teshigahara

2. Innovation in Craft Since 1893
What?
Explore the collision of modernity and tradition synonymous with dunhill at dunhill House, the iconic men’s retail and lifestyle destination in Mayfair.
For this special evening at their London flagship, dunhill invites you to enjoy a curated exhibition of contemporary dunhill creations, alongside the items that inspired them from the historic dunhill archive. You will have the chance to see beautifully engineered lighters from the turn of the century, alongside suits made for American music and literary icons Frank Sinatra and Truman Capote respectively. The latest custom look from the recent Met Gala in New York will be there too, complemented by innovative looks from Creative Director Mark Weston’s most recent collections; continuing his exploration of tradition and innovation at the House.

3. Grafton Saddler: Leatherwork Demonstration
What?
Discover more about the leatherwork techniques and processes involved in the making of a Grafton Saddler custom saddle. Watch a live demonstration by craftsperson Hannah Galvin-Horne, who introduces the materials, techniques and processes used in her craft.
From the finest aniline calfskin, the leather is cut, dyed, finished, hand punched and applied to the saddle to create the bespoke bike saddle design.

4. ER, A Project by Eugène Riconneaus
What?
Visit Fabrica X during London Craft Week, where French artist and shoe designer, Eugène Riconneaus, will unveil the first sneakers made from marine litter. Created from bio-marine ocean plastic litter and innovative materials, the sneakers present a vision of the footwear of tomorrow.

5. Is There a Future for Leather?

Join Anya Hindmarch, founder and CEO of her eponymous brand, in conversation with Sara Grady and Alice Robinson, founders of Grady + Robinson, and Jimmy Woodrow from Pasture for Life for a discussion on land, animals and leather. 6. Create Your Own Hand-Knitted Beanie From Upcycled Material by Joao Maraschin
What?
Join Joao Maraschin and knit your own beanie from scratch with upcycled material. Get to work with an exciting repurposed cotton shirting and learn more about the background of Joao’s practice. Being a knitter is a bonus, but everyone is welcome. Participants are taught basic hand-knitting skills during the workshop and leave with a brand-new winter hat made from repurposed material.
Joao Marashin is a community-led brand focused on social design, collaborating with artisans around the world and carefully managing its environmental impact. The designer established his eponymous brand in February 2020 and showcases collections at London Fashion Week.

9. Botanical Cloth-Dyeing Workshop with Cloth Collective
What?
Cloth Collective is a natural dye house based in England, founded by Charlotte Lawson Johnston and Kate Turnbull. On Thursday 12 May, Daylesford Pimlico hosts Charlotte and Kate for a botanical cloth hand-dyeing workshop. Using organic flowers from Daylesford’s market garden, guests are taught how to create their own natural dyes. An ‘in-conversation’ with Charlotte and Kate precedes the workshop.

11. An Evening with Chris Hill at Jimmy Choo Academy

12. Pillars of dunhill Craft
What?

Bespoke cutter, Joe Butler, showcases dunhill’s bespoke tailoring with live pattern cutting demonstrations.
Ricky Potts, Senior Leather Modeller, displays the process of making simple card cases and embossing leather.

13. Artefact: Meet the Makers
What?
Artefact, the contemporary craft fair, brings the joy of the handmade to an audience of designers, architects, collectors and enthusiasts. Recognising the thriving relationship between craft and interior design, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour brings together talented makers to demonstrate their skills.
Daily demonstrations feature British makers from QEST (the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust). The charity supports the training and education of talented and aspiring craftspeople through scholarship and apprenticeship funding, sustaining vital skills in traditional and contemporary crafts and supporting Britain’s cultural heritage.
Transforming an idea into reality takes skill, imagination and vision; from revitalising heritage techniques and cutting-edge innovation to seeing the potential of materials and artisan processes. Meet the Makers is an opportunity to watch the artisans in action and gain a greater understanding of how one-of-a-kind designs are made. Meet them in person and see their incredible work up close.

15. Urban Fungariums by Rachel Horton-Kitchlew
What?
The Urban Fungarium encourages a positive perspective towards mushrooms. It facilitates the cultivation of beautiful, nutritious mushrooms in the domestic environment while also providing education and enjoyment around fungi and the huge wellbeing benefits of Biophilic design.
Rachel Horton-Kitchlew’s Biophilic nature-inspired works are created from waste, are compostable and non-harmful to the environment. Her work explores mycelium as an excellent alternative to manmade materials that leave toxic traces in our world.
